Healthcare training on the Eyre Peninsula has received a major boost following the official launch of TAFE SA’s new Multi-Health Precinct at its Port Lincoln campus yesterday.

Minister for Education and Training Lucy Hood joined TAFE SA chief executive Adam Kilvert in town to cut the ribbon on the state-of-the-art training hub, which directly targets regional skill shortages by allowing local students to train on high-tech equipment without leaving the region.

The upgraded precinct replicates modern clinical settings and features two new simulation labs, nine hospital beds, and industry-standard equipment designed to mirror real-world environments for nursing, aged care, and disability support students.

Speaking at the opening, Ms Hood highlighted the importance of place-based learning, emphasising that keeping training local is vital to building the region’s future health workforce.

The facility builds on the reintroduction of the Diploma of Nursing earlier this year, with the precinct already supporting 14 local students currently enrolled in the course.
