Police have issued a stern road safety warning following a crackdown on local roads that saw six drivers caught under the influence across the Halloween weekend.

Officers nabbed the offending motorists on local streets for a range of offences, including blowing more than double the legal alcohol limit.

Multiple drivers had their licenses suspended immediately and will face court at a later date, while two vehicles were impounded for 28 days.

Among those caught was an 18-year-old P1 license holder who allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.059.

He was reported for drink driving and breaching his P-plate conditions by driving past midnight, incurring $1,500 in fines.

In another incident, a 26-year-old man allegedly failed to comply with a breath test and was reported for the refusal alongside driving with an expired license.

He received an immediate 12-month license suspension and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days.

Following the operation, police are pleading with locals to keep the Fatal 5 in mind, urging motorists not to risk their lives or livelihoods and to always book a taxi or organise a designated driver before heading out.
