Clarkson’s Farm follows British television presenter and former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson as he lurches between ambition, disaster and the occasional decent harvest with farm manager Kaleb Cooper, partner Lisa Hogan and land agent Charlie Ireland.
Eleven of Jeremy Clarkson’s Easycare sheep have vanished from Diddly Squat Farm, leaving the presenter counting heads, calling police, and issuing a simple demand: put them back.
Jeremy Clarkson found the gap in the flock while doing a count with Clarkson’s Farm co-star Kaleb Cooper. He told The Sun the missing animals were worth more than £2,000 at market and that he feared others in distant fields might be gone too. The 1,000-acre farm is hard to watch.
Thames Valley Police received the report on Wednesday. Officers spoke with Clarkson at the farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, on Thursday. The theft happened sometime in the previous ten days and was unwitnessed.
Clarkson said: “The police have been very good, actually.
“Once you go through 700 hours of recorded messages, I got through to a girl.
“I said, ‘I know it’s going to sound like I’m from 1856, but I’ve had some sheep stolen’.
“She went through the name and address and then she said, ‘Oh, not your Easycares’. She’s obviously been watching the show, but it is the Easycares.”
“Anyone could be anywhere and you wouldn’t know,” he said. He added that the raid almost certainly happened at night or on a day the cameras and drone were not rolling, because “there’s a film crew here all the time.”
The fame of the Amazon Prime series probably makes the place more of a target rather than less, Clarkson conceded, though he does not think the sheep were taken because they lived at Diddly Squat. Livestock theft is an old rural problem that modern celebrity farming has not solved. “How can you stop it if someone’s determined to steal your livestock?” he asked.
The police officer who took the call apparently watches the show. After Clarkson explained he sounded “like I’m from 1856” because sheep had been stolen, she replied, “Oh, not your Easycares.” They were.
Clarkson has appealed directly to whoever took them. The sheep were happy in his favourite field and that he wants them home.
Filming for season 6yt of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ started this year so maybe the sheep saga will be included. However, Clarkson believes the thief’s struck at night when there was no film crew or drone.
