The Whyalla City Council is proposing a rate rise in this year’s draft budget, now up for public feedback.
The council says the budget is being developed in a challenging environment, including once-in-a-generation high inflation levels, and is proposing a rate rise equal to a $2.30 increase per week for the average residential property.
The budget is also prioritising a number of ‘liveability projects’ including the redevelopment of the Surf Life Saving building, upgrades to parts of the Whyalla Health and Leisure Centre and the marina boat ramp.
Community consultation is open until May 19.
