The Eyre Peninsula seafood industry will be strengthened, with the establishment of a new body Seafood Industry South Australia Incorporated.
The State Government is providing $300,000 to create the group, after calls from the industry for a voice that represents the common interests of all sectors, including wild catch, aquaculture, fish processors and retailers.
Executive Officer of the SA Northern Zone Rock Lobster Association, Kyri Toumazos, thanked the Government for their support in helping them form the peak body.
He said it’s great the Government recognises the importance of the seafood industry as a large employer in regional South Australia.
