Following consultations in Port Lincoln and Whyalla last year, the SA Law Reform Institute has made new recommendations to reform the state’s mental health laws.
61 recommendations have been made to reform SA laws including promoting indigenous mental health and implementing culturally appropriate services, establishing a Mental Health Commissioner role and addressing the intersection between mental health and the use of illicit drugs and alcohol.
The institute held 42 individual meetings, in person and online, across metropolitan and regional SA.
The recommendations will now be considered by the State Government.
