A young Eyre Peninsula woman has been recognised for her work in this year’s SA Young Achiever Awards.
Port Lincoln’s Shania Richards took out the Department of Human Services Aboriginal Achievement Award at a ceremony late last week.
In 2021, Shania joined the Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation Committee, creating the Youth Justice Bill (Age of Criminal Capability) and debating it in the Legislative Council.
Shania became the first Female Aboriginal Youth Governor of SA in 2022, as well as winning the Port Lincoln Young Citizen of the Year Award and the NAIDOC SA Caring for Country Award.
