In a major step for housing, approval has now been given for a new 107-home residential development in Port Lincoln.

The project will be built across Council-owned land at Monalena Street, Passat Street and Mitton Avenue, in a partnership with not-for-profit provider Cornerstone Housing.

Approvals were recently given through the independent Eyre Peninsula Regional Assessment Panel, with the project to support increased housing supply and affordability, while responding to housing and workforce pressures in the city.

Mayor Diana Mislov said the approval reflects the Council’s focus on addressing local housing needs.

“Housing is one of the biggest challenges facing our community, and this approval is a major step forward. This development will help create more opportunities for local families, workers and businesses,” she said.

The approved development includes 42 allotments at Mitton Avenue and 65 allotments across Monalena and Passat Street.

Work is now turning towards securing funding.
