Imagine your cat disappearing one day and never coming home. You search the neighbourhood, put up posters and spend months hoping for that magical phone call telling you they’ve been found.
But after 11 years, you’d probably assume that chapter was over.
That was the reality for a Melbourne family after their cat Mufasa disappeared from his home in Lalor in 2015. He was just two years old, and for more than a decade, nobody knew where he’d gone.
Then, completely out of the blue, Mufasa turned up.
Another family found the ginger cat and had him checked before taking him in. A microchip revealed the incredible truth: it was Mufasa. After 11 years, he was finally reunited with his original family.
But Where Has He Been?
It’s a beautiful reunion, but we’re dying to know what Mufasa has been doing all this time.
Perhaps he was abducted by aliens and spent a decade travelling the galaxy. Maybe he jumped into someone’s car for a quick adventure and accidentally ended up on an 11-year road trip.
Or, perhaps most suspiciously, he found another family and simply decided to start a new life. Then there’s our favourite theory: tax evasion. Eleven years off the grid? No forwarding address? Sounds suspicious.
Whatever Mufasa has been up to, he’s finally back where he belongs. After 11 years on the run, we’re just glad he’s been reunited with his family and finally stopped being a missing purr-son.
