The world’s most resilient prehistoric blended family is back, and they are moving quite a bit further down the thermometer. Disney has released the first official teaser trailer and poster for Ice Age: Boiling Point, confirming that the long-running animated franchise is officially heading into its next chapter.

For a franchise that began all the way back in 2002, the narrative has survived melting landscapes, continental drift, and a literal asteroid threat. This time, however, the threat is decidedly internal. The newly released teaser shows the iconic core group blasting out of an active volcano and descending straight into a chaotic, lava-filled version of the Lost World.

The short teaser confirms that the classic voice cast is fully intact. Ray Romano returns as the sensible mammoth Manny, alongside Denis Leary as the cynical sabre-toothed tiger Diego, and John Leguizamo as the perpetually chaotic ground sloth Sid. Queen Latifah also returns as Ellie, whilst Simon Pegg lends his voice once again to the eccentric, one-eyed weasel Buck Wild.

Naturally, the trailer shows the gang in familiar, free-falling peril, accompanied by the franchise’s chaotic mainstays Crash, Eddie, and the eternally stressed, acorn-obsessed Scrat, who appears alongside Baby Scrat.

The visual style appears to lean heavily into the contrast between the classic sub-zero frost of the characters and the bright, volatile environment of a subterranean volcanic system. According to the studio, the plot sees the herd exploring never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World, combining dinosaurs, active magma, and the usual level of accidental destruction that follows Sid wherever he goes.

Behind the Scenes and Release Date

Stepping into the director’s chair for this installment is John Donkin, who previously directed The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. Producing duties are handled by franchise veteran Lori Forte, who has steered the series through multiple entries including the original Ice Age and Ice Age: Collision Course.
