Young girls across the Eyre Peninsula who play soccer or have an interest in sports are invited to join the Swag Soccer academy for their regional program that is coming to Port Lincoln these school holidays.
SWAG visited Port Lincoln last year and had a positive response from young female players who thrive on sports and had the opportunity to return to Port Lincoln this year.
The program aims to create joy through the game, create positive experiences and allow girls to fall in love with the game.
SWAG Soccer Academy Technical Director, Sean Sheehy says they’re passionate about growing the women’s game and helping girls be happy and healthy when it come to the sport.
The clinic is set to come to Port Lincoln during the second week of school holidays on the 13th and 14th of July with the program open to all girls from across the region.
“If they want to get involved they can go to our Facebook page, SWAG Soccer Academy, or on our website, we would love to see as many players there as possible, it’s obviously its a soccer clinic but any girls that like sports are welcome, so if they play tennis, netball basketball or football it’s just a chance to have some fun in a team environment where they will learn new skills and teach each other.” Said Sean.
“Obviously with COVID many sporting seasons have been cancelled, including the local soccer league, so it’s a good opportunity for girls to come out and have fun.”
“We’re doing it at cost price this year so just enough for us to pack the van up and travel over but it’s just about having fun and we know from our last visit that girls on the Eyre Peninsula really enjoyed it and we wanted to take the opportunity to return, with this being our only regional location this year due to COVID-19.”
