Gas consumption in the spotlight

A new report has warned that gas is highly polluting, driving climate change and is a key reason why power prices have been so high for many households.

The report by the Climate Council has found our gas supply is primarily made up of methane which is up to 86% more potent than carbon dioxide in the short-term.

 


It's led to calls for renewable energy to be a major part of the post-coronavirus recovery.


Greg Bourne from the Climate Council believes it's a strong opportunity for regional communities while helping to improve energy supply and reliability.
