Support announced for cancer patients

Eyre Peninsula residents living with rare or less common cancers are set to benefit from a number of molecular tests being newly subsidised under Medicare.

While uncommon on their own, recent figures estimate more than 50,000 Australians are diagnosed with rare cancers each year, with around half succumbing to their disease.

Professor Sandra O'Toole from the College of Pathologists (RCPA) has welcomed the move saying it will help lead to early diagnoses and better outcomes for patients.
