2020 Umbrella Festival to Hit Regional Communities

SA’s winter music Umbrella Festival, is set to be expanded to regional South Australia in 2020 following a $200,000 State Government funding boost.

Music SA will support the Umbrella Festival which will be held in Whyalla, Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge and the Barossa.

Minister for Innovation and Skills David Pisoni said the additional State Government funding will expand the Umbrella Festival to key regional centers and offer audiences a variety of curated live music projects and open access music performances.

“Umbrella is one of several wonderful festivals and events that brings the city to life during mid-winter, showcasing some of our state’s best live music talent.”

Music SA CEO Lisa Bishop said, “I’m thrilled that the Umbrella Festival will expand in 2020 and I’m looking forward to seeing gigs popping up in regional locations across the state.

“Live music is a tourism drawcard, it provides economic benefits to local businesses, helps with the wellbeing and career aspirations of young people and has also been shown to connect Australians from diverse backgrounds living in multicultural communities,” Ms Bishop said.
