PetStock Port Lincoln will be participating in this year’s National Adoption Day, teaming up with the local RSPCA to help raise awareness on pet homelessness and to encourage adoption.
Over the past 5 years, PetStock have adopted out 3,000 pets nationally for Adoption Day with this year’s target 1,000.
The Port Lincoln RSPCA will have around 8 of their shelter cats at Petsctock this Saturday from 10 am-2 pm for locals to meet.
Tammy Gudzenovs from PetStock Port Lincoln says the theme of this year’s adoption day is 'adopt different', getting people to think differently about adoption pets and having those sustainable choices to help break the cycle of pet homelessness.
We're collecting donations in store for the whole months and they are going to our partner the RSPCA the Port Lincoln Shelter, so if people can't makeit on the day we're doing the collections, and the donation will be going towards them. They also get a $200 donation from PetStock Assist for partnering with us on the day as well. " said Tammy.
Julia from the Port Lincoln RSPCA Shelter said “We always have cats up at Petstock but we will be taking more up for the day and hanging out up there, promoting the cats and pets we have but also our other bits and pieces like volunteering and encouraging people to adopt.”
“We do have dogs at our shelter now, but we’ve actually adopted all of the dogs we have for now so unless something changes between now and then, there won’t be any available on Saturday”
“We’d like to encourage people to pop down and say hello, even if you’re not looking to adopt, it’s always nice to come along and interact with the cats and kittens and have a chat to us anyway.” Said Julia.
