Cancer Linked to Alcohol Consumption

Residents across the Eyre Peninsula are being urged to moderate the amount of alcohol they drink with latest figures showing a significant link to the risk of cancer.

Nearly 30,000 cancer cases could be prevented over the next 25 years if all Australians stuck to the government's alcohol guidelines of no more than two standard drinks per day.

Clare Hughes from the Cancer Council says alcohol has been linked to a wide-range of cancers, with that risk increasing as more alcohol is consumed.

“We would just like to remind people of the risks associated with drinking and be mindful of how much they are drinking.” Said Hughes.
