The Ronald McDonalds Ride for Sick Kids has wrapped up for 2019 with local men Mark Forbes and Trent Adams taking part in the ride for their second year running.
Over the year the two have been fundraising for the charity hosting their major event, the Bogan quiz night that saw a sell-out evening.
This year approximately 31 riders participated, riding 1000km from Adelaide, through regional SA and back through to Adelaide.
In total, Trent and Mark managed to raise $24,000 for the Ronald McDonald House however their fundraising accounts are still open for donations until the end of December.
Mark says “The overall total is looking to see over $300,000 raised for RMH.”
While the ride proved to be challenging at times, Trent and Mark said they we’re fortunate to have ridden with a good group of people through good weather.
“It was really good, we were in our second year in so we sort of knew what to expect but it really was a great week with everyone having the same goal in mind raising some valued money for such an important charity.
Over the two days, riders stopped through schools to speak to children.
Trent said “Highlights were definitely the school visits for both of us I think, it was a lot of fun.”
“We just sat around amongst the kids had a joke, we talk about the riding and they also had people talk about Ronny mac.
“It’s even just hearing some of the stories from the kids says ‘oh yeah my cousin stayed at Ronny mac’ it just reinforces why you’re doing it and how important it is and how many people really do use the house for support when needed.” Said Mark.
Locals can still donate by contacting Mark Forbes or Trent Adams.
