Two people have been arrested after a crash at Port Lincoln yesterday, which led to the discovery of explosive material in the boot of a stolen car.
Patrols and emergency services were called to St. Andrews Terrace, after reports of a two-car crash where a man and woman ran off from a red Subaru station wagon that appeared to e stolen.
The car was towed to an impound yard for forensic examination where police uncovered the explosive material.
Explosive Coordination Section members were called to the scene, to examine the material and dispose of it safely.
Further searches led police to a nearby caravan park, where a 41-year-old man of no fixed address and a 38-year-old Morphett Vale woman were arrested.
They will face numerous charges including illegal use of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and other charges relative to the possession of the explosive material.
