It’s been confirmed that Tim Whetstone Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development will be attending the Port Lincoln Tuna Poler Statue unveiling next week.
The minister will represent the Government of South Australia for the significant addition of the Port Lincoln foreshore.
The Tuna Poler statue is an initiative by the Rotary Club of Port Lincoln, Axel Stenross Maritime Museum and the City of Port Lincoln.
Sculptor Ken Martin designed the piece and saw poling at times was dangerous work often carried out in remote wild seas, and created exciting adventurous times and stories for locals who carried out the work.
The unveiling of the tuna poler statue will take place on Sunday 28th July at 10.30am at the statue near the town jetty, with locals invited to join a moment in history for the city.
