 police news

Next week Eyre Peninsula schools will return for term three with police advising locals to be cautious when travelling on the highways and also in school zones come Monday.

While a lot of families take the school holidays to travel its important drivers are careful on regional roads and taking the time to ensure they reach their destination safely.

Next week Police will be conducting operation school zone to ensure those driving in school areas are abiding by the laws that include driving 25kmph in school zones when lights are flashing or if children are present, slowing down to 25km/ph when a school bus has stopped to pick up or drop off school children and being mindful to slow down when you need too.

Port Lincoln Police officer Sargent Dianne Baker-Tagg said “We’re just asking people to refocus on Monday for the busy period of school in the morning and school in the afternoon.”
