Locals are being warned not to answer suspicious phone calls following an incident yesterday where a local Wudinna woman received a phone call from NSW number that appeared to be an NBN telephone scam.
An automotive voice informed the woman that her phone would be cut off if she did not proceed to press 1 and connect herself to an NBN technician.
Scams of such are common however there haven’t been reported locally in the Wudinna area.
Locals are being warned not to answer or proceed with any phone calls of similar circumstances as they could be a scam, putting your personal information at risk.
Research shows people from all walks of life and age groups can be targeted and vulnerable to fraud.
Remote access scams can have a larger impact on older Australians opposed to those younger who are more affected by online scams.
