Following a survey conducted by Regional development Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula on the recent blackouts, it's been revealed that over half of those surveyed would be interested in the Eyre Peninsula Community Solar Scheme.
The survey had up to 240 participants who reported on their disruptions during the blackout.
Some of the key findings from the survey included significant impacts on business such as loss of water, computer systems, phones and EFTPOS, guest complaints and limited operations. The median loss for businesses was between $1000 and $2500, which included the loss of refrigerated medicines.
As a result of the power outage, many residents have and are looking into generators for the future and are interested in the proposed EP Solar Scheme that could be beneficial for pensioners, renters, businesses and low-income homeowners.
