Those who work with Eyre Peninsula Farmers will soon have the opportunity to take on a six month training program titled Building Future Extension Leaders SA.
The program supported by National Landcare Program has been previously delivered successfully in WA and has been proven to be beneficial to those here in SA.
The program is open to program managers and extension deliverers in NRM organisations, grower groups and private extension providers and will be hands on, with lots of practical activities, and presented by facilitators with an extensive amount of valuable experience.
It incorporates a series of workshops (2 x 2 days) and webinars (2) over a six month period aimed at increasing skills and knowledge in extension theory and practice, program design, adult learning techniques and facilitation, and evaluation and monitoring.
It will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to;
- Understand farmer decisions and perspective;
- Understand the range of barriers to adoption across their target audience;
- Undertake effective planning and delivery of extension programs; and
- Incorporate monitoring, review and redesign at the beginning and throughout the project.
The program has been designed to build participants confidence in leading change through their industry roles by developing skills on – farm extension and change management programs.
The Training program is set to run from July – December this year.
