This week will see the Game Fishing Club of South Australia Peter Teakle Wines 2019 Port Lincoln Blue Water Classic fishing tournament kick off.
The annual week-long fishing tournament will see a meet and greet session on Friday night, March 15th, for fishers to register and get a briefing on how the fishing tournament will run.
The Game Fishing Competition is based just out of Port Lincoln and Memory Cove and is on a catch, tag and release terms with anglers are rewarded with points for letting the fish go.
However, fisherman are entitled to keep some of their catching’s.
The tagging allows fisheries to conduct research on the fish movement and stocks.
Game fish will be targeted throughout the competition such as Tuna, Kingfish, Snapper and Salmon.
Steve Morris from Game Fishing SA says all fisherman are welcome to enter one of the two sections that include the Open NONE Lines Class Section or the GFAA Line Class Section.
The line class fishing section will run all week with prizes up for grabs and a trophy presentation on the final night Thursday 21st.
"None line class section, which is normal fishing and that cash prizes every day. Its $60 per person per day for entry and if you get the biggest fish, that night you come into memory cove, we weigh the fish and if you have the biggest fish you win $250 cash prize.” said Steve.
The tournament will run from Saturday 15th March until 21st March, with 5 of those days full of fishing.
