Over the weekend Petstock successfully hosted National Adopt a Pet day seeing up to four cats taken home and adopted.
Port Lincoln has a high rate of homeless cats with organisations doing their best to take in and re-home cats and kittens across the region.
Making a Difference Cat Rescue has approximately 30 foster cats in their care, however, don’t have a specific shelter for all cats to be accommodated together but alternatively foster them out to people and families who are willing to take them under their wing until they can be homed.
Port Lincoln RSPCA have approximately 40 cats at their shelter, many up for adoption and many waiting to be taken in.
There have been an overwhelming amount of cats brought in to the shelter with approximately 300 coming in this financial year alone.
The RSPCA have reached their capacity and have no choice but to turn cats away or wait until they have the room for them.
Cats come with an adoption fee and for a limited time, the RSPCA will be offering 50% off the standard fee of $170 to encourage locals to adopt a furry friend.
All cats are desexed, wormed, microchipped, fleed and have had health checks.
Alternatively, if you would like to give a helping hand and become a foster home for cats in transition, contact Making A difference Cat Rescue Port Lincoln VIA their Facebook Page.
