This Saturday, February 9th, is National Pet Adoption Day and Eyre Peninsula Residents are being encouraged to adopt a rescue pet with figures showing around 200,000 are waiting unclaimed in animal pounds around the country.
This year, we're being asked to put aside any preconceptions we might have about rescue animals or particular breeds.
Jess Guilfoyle from PETstock says they're hoping to find more forever homes for fur babies.
“On national Pet Adoption Day all of our PETstock stores will be partnering with rescue groups and it’s a fantastic opportunity for people to find their perfect match, receive more information on adoption and introduce pets to needed and potential families”
Petstock Port Lincoln will be partnering up with RSPCA South Austalia Port Lincoln Animals Care Centre, Making A Difference Cat Rescue and Adoptions.
“There are so many amazing pets in need of a loving home. For local families considering a new pet, I encourage you to keep an open mind. You may just be surprised who you fall for or who falls for you, just like humans personality is individual and it’s what’s on the inside that really counts. Love really does know no breed.” said Jess.
