A motorcyclist recorded a blood alcohol reading more than three times the legal limit at Port Lincoln on New Year's Eve.

About 6pm on Monday 31 December, police stopped a motorcycle for a mobile driver test in Baltimore Street, Port Lincoln.

The rider, a 20-year-old Port Lincoln man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.186.

Police checks revealed the rider had never held a licence, was currently disqualified from driving and the motorcycle was unregistered and uninsured.

The rider was reported for these offences and issued with a further 12 month immediate loss of licence.

The motorbike was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court at a later date.
