The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) is coming to the EP on Monday 19th February 2018. This travelling baton has travelled an astonishing 288 days throughout the commonwealth and finally arrived in Brisbane on the 24th December.

The QBR has passed through several countries and touched thousands of hands across Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas, Europe Asia and Oceania.

Approximately 3,800 batonbearers will carry it through every state and territory in Australia.

Now it’s Eyre Peninsula’s turn.

After visiting Coffin Bay in the morning, 14 local heroes will carry the QBR from Jubilee Drive at the Port Lincoln Marina, travelling through the town and finishing at the town square at approximately 1:45 pm.

Mayor Bruce Green said “I encourage the community to share in this momentous occasion by cheering on local batonbearers along the Relay route or by joining the festivities on the foreshore lawns”.

A community celebration will be held at the Port Lincoln foreshore from 11.30am onwards on the day, with the Baton arriving at approximately 1:45pm.

Magic 89.9 will be broadcasting live along food stalls and entertainment for the children.
