Bowel cancer is Australia’s second biggest cancer killer, and despite SA residents having one of the highest rates of participation for bowel cancer screening, both SA and national participation rates have dropped since the previous two year reporting period.

Locally, participation rates on the Eyre Peninsula dropped 2.6 per cent in 2019-2020, compared to the 2018-19 financial year.

The Yorke Peninsula had the highest participation rates in SA at 54.7 per cent and the Outback and North East had the lowest at 35.9 per cent.
