The City of Whyalla is calling on local businesses to enrol to vote in the upcoming council elections.
The Electoral Commission of South Australia data shows more than 130,000 business owners across SA did not enrol to vote at the 2018 local government poll, meaning less than five percent of businesses across the state were able to vote.
City of Whyalla CEO, Justin Commons, said many local business owners may not even know they can vote in the council elections, let alone that they must re-enrol their business to vote in each election.
He said this is an opportunity for businesses to influence council-related areas that directly impact them, including business and economic development, planning zones and land use, local traffic management and city amenity.
