A $300 million Eyre Peninsula transmission line project has resumed, after construction was shut down due to claims of major health and safety issues.
The 270 kilometre Eyre Peninsula Link project will see a transmission line run from Cultana to Port Lincoln, via Yadnarie, with Downer contracted to build the line for ElectraNet.
The Communications, Electrical Plumbing Union said workers are being forced to share personal protective equipment while working 40 metres from the ground, and also says access to hand washing facilities is rare and accommodation is filled with dirt and dust.
In a statement, the Union's SA State Secretary, John Adley, has called on ElectraNet SA and the State Government to investigate and ensure workers aren't being treated like they're disposable.
Both ElectraNet and Downer have been contacted for comment.
