Uptake in 5 to 11 Year Old COVID Vaccine Bookings

The Eyre and Far North Local Health Network says there has been a good uptake in COVID vaccination bookings for 5 to 11 year olds in the region.

Vaccinations for the cohort are now available at the Port Lincoln clinic, with the network delivering vaccinations to the age bracket in other Eyre Peninsula towns from Monday with bookings only.

In a statement, The LHN said with children getting ready to go back to school, it’s now more important than ever for young South Australians to roll up their sleeves and get the vaccine.

They are encouraging parents to check the SA Health website regularly as more appointments open up over the coming days and weeks.

The network also would like to remind parents vaccination is the best way to reduce the risk of COVID in the community and a child’s risk of becoming seriously unwell.

As of yesterday, there are 168 active cases in Port Lincoln, an increase of 6 from Wednesday, 40 cases in the Tumby Bay region, 11 in the Cleve region, 12 in the Elliston area and 44 in the Lower Eyre Peninsula LGA.

A number of COVID-19 pop up clinics will be operating across the Eyre Peninsula next week and throughout January including in Cleve, Kimba, Cowell and Ceduna.
