New Cashless Welfare Card Grant Round Launches

With the aim to support people on the Cashless Welfare Card program back into the workforce, the Federal Government have launched a new grant round.

The round will fund activities in a number of areas across Australia trialling the cards, including Ceduna, for programs that upskill participants to become job ready, stabilize participants' lives through basic financial literacy and improve the retention of people in employment.

The cashless welfare card trial has been controversial, with both Vinnies and the Australian Council of Social Service opposing the program and a University of Adelaide report evaluating the trial in Ceduna, East Kimberley and the Goldfields regions finding the card had negatively affected several participants' quality of life.

The grant round closes on the 25th of October.
