The Eyre Peninsula is ready for take-off as three test rocket launches have been approved for the Whalers Way Facility.
Southern Launch’s application has been given the green light to use the site at Port Lincoln to conduct the tests before the end of the year.
Premier Steven Marshall says “It marks a major milestone in Southern Launch’s ambition to build a permanent orbital facility, which would be one of only two in the Southern Hemisphere, representing an enormous opportunity for growth.”
The approval has been granted under strict conditions, including that nearby residents be informed before a planned test launch.
Tests results will also form an important part of Southern Launch’s separate application for a permanent orbital facility.
