An 85 year relationship will this week come to an end at Port Lincoln City Motors as Holden pulls out of the Australian market.
City Motors have been a Holden dealer since 1936 and one of the earliest in the state, however this Friday the dealership will show its commemoration for the relationship over the years before they bring down the Holden signage.
Local Holden enthusiasts are being invited to join the dealership tomorrow afternoon in celebrating what was almost, a century long relationship.
Mark Vennings from City Motors says they will have the Port Lincoln Rotary Club and That Coffee Cart on site for a BBQ and refreshment which will then be followed by a main street Holden precession.
“What we are doing here locally this Friday between 2pm and 5pm, we’re inviting in as many of our local Holden enthusiast with their cars to come in, take a photo with the signage, we are hoping to see about 50 + cars come down and celebrate, or commemorate Holden vehicles.
“Then at 5pm we have organised to do a precession with all the cars down the main street, down along the foreshore and then will gather at Axel Stenross to take some photos of all the vehicles and then come back.” said Mr. Vennings.
