Today Diabetes SA will be visiting Port Lincoln for an event to raise awareness of the risks of type 2 diabetes.
Following a successful event in Clare, the team is making their way to the Eyre Peninsula to educate locals on the seriousness of diabetes.
Diabetes is one of the state’s most serious chronic health conditions that affect 1.4 million Aussies with an estimate of 500,000 people who are undiagnosed.
Today’s event is a series of 10 regional events for type 2 community awareness and screening with today’s session to be held from 9am until 4pm at the Nautilus Arts Centre.
Fiona Benton from Diabetes SA says locals can drop in throughout the day.
“Diabetes SA has a team of health professionals in Port Lincoln and visiting various areas of the Eyre Peninsula, so we’re really encouraging people to drop in throughout the day.
“The day involves visiting our health Professionals for a short questionnaire around 11 questions which gives you an idea of your risk for developing type 2 diabetes.” said Fiona.
