Locals are being invited to join a foster care orientation training next month.
The two-day training will provide information on what foster care is all about and is helpful to people who may be thinking about becoming foster carers and help them make their decision.
Centacare will run the training and will cover topics such as how children come into care and why, the different types of foster care that are available and the different types of ways to become involved in foster care.
The course will run on two consecutive Thursdays of March 11th and 18th.
Anne Gaskill from Port Lincoln Centacare says foster carers can come from all walks of life with it all about being able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for a child.
They can be married people, single people, they can be people with their own children, they can be people who have never had children, they can be working or not working.
“Really it's all about being able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for a child and if people are able to do that then foster caring can definitely be an option for them.” said Anne.
