Young anglers across the Eyre Peninsula are being encouraged to become a fishing ambassador for the region.

Reeling in Junior Anglers is on the hunt for keen locals fishers to help promote fishing among kids and become 1 of 7 ambassadors state-wide.

Fishers between the ages of 7-16 years of age keen to join the Ambassador Program as a passionate angler can register by submitting a recollection of their fishing adventures and share some of their favorite fishing pictures.

Alicia Bolitho from Tackle World Port Lincoln says the winning kid will score themselves some Shimmao Fishing Gear, a publication in the SA Angler Magazine and represent young fishers here on the Eyre Peninsula.

“Basically it's about trying to promote fishing in South Australia, get more kids fishing and get more people fishing.

“They will get an article published in the SA Anglers Magazine and they will also receive $250 fishing equipment supplied by Shimano.”

“Entries close at the end of this month so any kids that would like to join the program can register at the Reeling in Junior Anglers Webiste.

“The Ambassador will essentially represent the region, so they might go out on fishing charters or have the chance to be on TV if a show comes to the Eyre Peninsula and things like that." said Alicia.
