A man has been reported following a near-miss with a police vehicle at the scene of a fatal crash at Yalata over the weekend.
As police were at the scene of a fatal crash on the Eyre Highway last night (Sunday 21 December), police officers had a near miss with a B-Double truck.
The truck driver failed to notice two marked police vehicles with their red and blue emergency lights activated who were parked on the highway, diverting traffic around the crash scene.
The truck sped past a stationary police vehicle which had a police officer inside, coming close to having a head on collision.
A 56-year-old man from Gawler South was reported for driving without due care. He will be summonsed to appear in the Ceduna Magistrates Court at a later date.
As the holiday period comes into full effect, it is a timely reminder that any number of events can occur on rural roads and drivers must always manage fatigue and pay attention to the road.
Road users are also reminded to pay extra attention while passing emergency services with red and blue lights activated and slow down to 25km/h when passing.
