A new report is shining a spotlight on the issue of mental health and suicide amongst Australian men, including those in regional and rural areas.
Despite making up more than three-quarters of all deaths by suicide, a quarter of Australian men say they wouldn't seek help from anyone for mental health concerns.
Anne Hollonds from the Institute of Family Studies says the findings highlight the critical role friends and families can play in encouraging men to seek help.
"Men in regional and rural areas face many challenges so trusted family and friends can really help by listening and by helping men find the right mental health support services just as telehealth or online." said Anne.
