A short film featuring a local girl living with disability has made it as a finalist in the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival.
The Cara film “Taking Flight” focuses on Mya Canty and her journey as one of Cara’s Personalised Day Options customers.
Mya’s diagnosis of the very-rare Cohen’s Syndrome means she may lose her ability to see one day with her family and Cara ensuring she can see and experience as much as possible now and in the future.
Learning to use her cane now while Mya still has her sight will help her in the future.
The Focus on Ability Short Film Festival, organised by Nova Employment, has opened up its voting polls this week for locals to vote for your favourite films in each category– “Taking Flight” is in the Open Documentary category with voting open until Wednesday, September 23rd.
To vote head to the focus on ability website.
