Along with Harry, Louis, Zayn and Liam, Niall Horan has branched out from his One Direction days to become a solo artist and will bring his first arena tour to Australian next year.
Horan is performing a one-off date in Sydney's Enmore Theatre on Sunday night as part of his Flicker Sessions tour, which has sold out around the world, but will be returning with his guitar to play much bigger venues.
The former boyband member has had success with two solo singles, Slow Hands and This Town, and will be performing music from his debut album when he plays arenas in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne next June.
Slow Hands was a number one hit in 44 countries and went triple platinum in Australia, while This Town reached double platinum status Down Under.
It's a new wave of success for the singer-songwriter who sold more than 70 million records as part of One Direction, but has now been cultivating a different sound which he will showcase on the record when it comes out.
"I've been listening to a lot of early 80s stuff lately and been inspired by that heavy bass and the funky guitar sound," Horan said.
"It's another flavour to my album that I'm excited to share."
