Support Services Expanded in Cashless Debit Card Communities

The Federal Government will expand support services in former Cashless Debit Card communities, including Ceduna.

Up to $16 million in new funding will go towards new local service plans, helping to expand existing services or fund additional services to meet the need of the community.

A number of local councils, community organisations, the Department of Social Services and other stakeholders have reportedly been involved in developing the plans.

In a statement, Minister for Social Services, Amanda Rishworth, says the Government is delivering for these communities on things that work and that communities.

The decision to remove the cashless debit card in Ceduna last year received a mixed reception, with Grey MP Rowan Ramsey saying the decision to terminate the card is a huge disappointment for the community.
