The District Council of Tumby Bay has secured state funding for two local projects, focused on environmental clean‑up and improved beach access.
More than $389,000 has been awarded to support an environmental clean‑up at the Second Creek wetland, along with the reinstatement of beach access stairs at Port Neill and Tumby Bay.
Council says the projects will address legacy waste issues within the wetland while improving public access at key foreshore locations.
Mayor Geoff Churchett said the funding will deliver practical improvements that benefit both the environment and the community.
The works will be fully funded under the State Government’s Algal Bloom Response: Local Government Grant Fund, with construction expected to improve long‑term environmental health and accessibility across the district.
