A member of the Hands Off Boston Bay group says he is disappointed SA Water won’t attend their community forum this week, looking at the science behind a Billy Lights Point desalination plant.
The public forum will be held on Wednesday at the Nautilus Arts Centre from 7pm, featuring professors, representatives of the Marine Fishers Association and Recfish SA and members of the local council.
SA Water will run their own marine science forums tomorrow at 10am, 3pm and 7pm at its information centre in Liverpool Street, Port Lincoln, with representatives from the South Australian Research and Development Institute and independent Marine Science Review Panel presenting.
Glen Ingham from the Hands Off Boston Bay group says SA Water has been given the invitation.
“We sent our invitiation out to them for the forum, and the very next day they came back with a list of forums they’re having the day before,” he said.
“We are disappointed they’re not coming and they’ve been given the opportunity.”
A spokesperson for SA Water said they advised the Hands Off Boston Bay group event organisers last week that they were unable to attend their forum, but noted that there are various other opportunities for the community to ask them questions in-person about our proposed desalination plant at Billy Lights Point.
