The Port Neill jetty is reopening tomorrow after months of remediation works.

Initiated in May, sections of decking were removed and contractors discovered extensive rotting of bearers, corrosion of connections and evidence of white ant activity.

The extensive damage paused works until late July while contractors awaited additional materials and construction equipment.

Tumby Bay Council contributed $1.35-million to the project, and another $750-thousand is expected to be needed to complete the full remediation.

Tumby Bay Mayor Geoff Churchett says the council are looking for a sustainable funding agreement to ensure the preservation of the beloved structure.

He also says the reopening of the jetty is a significant milestone, not only for local residents, but for the state.
