TAFE SA’s Port Lincoln Childcare Centre is one of seven sites across South Australia trialling a new mentoring program aimed at strengthening the early childhood education sector.

The Effective Mentoring in Early Childhood Education and Care program is designed to support professional development, boost leadership potential, and improve quality across the workforce.

It will run this semester and include four online workshops for participating mentors and mentees.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by TAFE SA’s National Centre of Excellence in Early Childhood Education and Care, which was launched in 2024 with $28 million in State and Federal Government funding.

Aside from Port Lincoln, the pilot is also being rolled out at centres in Whyalla, City West, Enfield, St Morris, Kalaya, and Waite Campus.

The Centre of Excellence is also working with universities and industry partners to create new training pathways and strengthen employment pipelines in early childhood education.
