Police search for murder weapon on Eyre Highway

Police officers are searching the Eyre Highway today for a weapon used in the death and robbery of a man earlier this year.

On 20 January, a 67-year-old man was found unresponsive near the Highway with serious head injuries, and he passed away in hospital on 20 March.

Investigations revealed the victim had been assaulted and his car had been stolen.

Two suspects, a 39-year-old Thevenard man and a 28-year-old Yalata woman, have been arrested and charged for the major crime.

The hunt for the weapon began yesterday, and motorists are asked to exercise caution with speed restrictions in place on Eyre Highway.

The pair responsible remain behind bars, and will face the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 1 May.
