Nominations are officially open for this year’s Port Lincoln NAIDOC Awards.
Honouring this year’s theme of ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy’, community members are invited to recognise and pay tribute to some of the outstanding contributions of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
There are nine categories for adults and six for youths, with the winners set to be announced at the NAIDOC Ball on 11 July.
NAIDOC Committee member LaWanna Warren said that nominations should include as much detail as possible.
“Be specific, because that’ll really help our panel members,” she said.
Youth categories include:
- Young NAIDOC Person of the Year
- Emerging Leader
- Creative Excellence
- Deadly in Sports
- Education Achievement
- Caring for Country
Adult categories include:
- NAIDOC Person of the Year
- Elder of the Year
- Community Champion
- Cultural Warrior
- Education Achievement
- Sports Legend
- Creative Excellence
- Local Legend
- Caring for Country
