CFS brigades on the Eyre Peninsula are set to benefit from a major fleet boost, with Port Lincoln and Arno Bay among the locations to receive new fire response vehicles ahead of the summer season.
The Country Fire Service is rolling out 35 new Quick Response Vehicles (QRVs) across the state, as part of a $6.8 million investment to strengthen frontline firefighting capacity.
Built on Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series chassis, the vehicles are designed for rapid deployment and tough terrain, making them ideal for responding to grass and scrub fires in regional areas.
Each appliance comes fitted with critical safety features, including an in-cabin water curtain system, breathing equipment, and advanced lighting and communications gear.
The new rollout brings the total number of QRVs in the state to 81, marking a record fleet size.
The vehicles are expected to arrive in September, just in time for crews to prepare for the upcoming fire danger season.
